3-acrylamido-2-methylpropane Sulfonic Acid (AMPS/ATBS) is an olefinic monomer with a sulfonic acid group. Its structural formula contains strongly anionic, water-soluble Unsaturated double bonds make it have excellent comprehensive properties, good complexation, adsorption, biological activity, surface activity, hydrolytic stability and thermal stability. In the aqueous solution, the AMPS monomer is hydrolyzed very slowly. The aqueous solution of its sodium salt, especially under the condition of pH value greater than 9, has excellent hydrolysis resistance. Under acidic conditions, the hydrolysis resistance of AMPS homopolymer is much higher than polyacrylamide. AMPS is main material for water treatment products. It also used in oilfield, painting, plastics etc.
