It’s a very important nonproton polar solvent which is soluble in both water and organic solvents. It is widely used as solvent and reaction reagent with high selective extraction ability. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic and sedative effects. It can be directly used as raw materials and carriers of some drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.

1. Solvents for aromatics extraction, resin and dye reaction media, acrylic fiber polymerization, filament extraction, etc.

2. As organic solvent, reaction medium and organic synthesis intermediate, with a wide range of uses.

3. As analytical reagent and stationary liquid of gas chromatography, as well as as as solvent for ultraviolet spectrum analysis.

4. Antifreeze. It is convenient to make automobile antifreeze, brake oil and hydraulic fluid components. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is also used as deicing agent, paint, antifreeze for various latex, antifreeze for gasoline and aviation coal, antifreeze for cryopreservation of bone marrow, blood and organs.
