Diethylenetriamine namely DETA, 2,2'-Diaminodiethylamine, is a common curing agent for epoxy -resins in epoxy adhesives. It is soluble in water, methanol, benzene, etc, but not simple hydrocarbons.

Diethylenetriamine is also used gas purification agent, epoxy resin curing agent, and also used in synthetic rubber. It is mainly used as a solvent and organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of gas purifiers (for CO2 removal), lubricating oil additives, emulsifiers, photographic chemicals, surfactants, fabric finishing agents, paper reinforcing agents, metal chelating agents , heavy metal hydrometallurgy and non-cyanide plating diffusion agents, brighteners, ion exchange resins and polyamide resins.
